November 12, 2020 - Petition to stop the sale of cultural treasures.
On Thursday, November 12, 2020, the Hashava Foundation petitioned the Supreme Court of Israel, in its role as the High Court of Justice, to stop the sale of important artworks and cultural properties from the collection of the Museum of Islamic Art in Jerusalem. The petition raises, among other issues, difficult questions regarding the Museum of Islamic Art’s decision-making process as regards the sale of these items from its collection, as well as the mistaken interpretation and lack of enforcement of the law by the Israel Antiquities Authority and the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
